In the spirit of our commitment to more sustainable practices, Blackbough Swim is proud to introduce our latest partnership with Retaso, a dynamic social and environmental enterprise founded in the Philippines. Led by a group of young women entrepreneurs, Retaso weaves material waste into regenerative design solutions. Each product is constructed using scrap fabric donated by local businesses, refined and handcrafted by skilled seamstresses in the Philippines.
Since August 2023, Blackbough Swim has donated plastic waste to Retaso, and we have decided to make it official this year by becoming a formal plastic waste upcycling donor. This commitment extends beyond our corporate values, reaching the individuals who form the backbone of Blackbough.
Our entire team actively participates in this initiative—being mindful of single-use plastics and pooling personal plastic waste to reduce ocean pollution and protect wildlife. Through collective action, we are able to pursue more sustainable business practices that emphasize both waste reduction and long-term impact.
Retaso’s philosophy is rooted in being 100% local and 100% circular, closely mirroring our own commitment to community support and reducing our ecological footprint. By upcycling would-be waste, Retaso gives new life to materials that might otherwise contribute to landfills.
By supporting social enterprises like Retaso, you play a vital role in this mission. Every action—no matter how small—contributes to meaningful change. Join us in making thoughtful choices that collectively create a positive impact on our planet.
At Blackbough, we fully support Retaso’s values in sustainability. Through this long-term partnership, we hope to further advance the cause and help weave a more vibrant, sustainable future—one stitch at a time.
