Things are starting to look up, so here’s a few nice things that’s been going on lately that’ll surely brighten up your day!
Krispy Kreme gives free donuts to graduates
Who can resist those perfectly glazed donuts? Krispy Kreme congratulates the class of 2020 by handing out the Graduate Dozen for all seniors dressed in their graduation caps and gowns. While the warm and fuzzy feeling of going up that stage in real life can’t be replaced, the feeling of free amazing donuts might be close enough!
John Krasinski Calls the “Hamilton” Cast for a 9-Year-Old Fan
It’s all because of Emily, a 9-year-old mega fan of Hamilton, who missed her chance to watch the play due to the pandemic. Now, who can resist a heartbroken little girl, right? John Krasinki takes it to his hands to mend this little girl’s heart and made the most epic Zoom call! He just casually phoned in Lin-Manuel Miranda and the rest of the Hamilton cast for an incredible online performance of the play’s opening number, “Alexander Hamilton.” Can we be invited to the next Zoom call?
Global Carbon Emissions Drop
Carbon dioxide emissions are down by 17%! While this is a result of everyone having to stay home and industries having to halt operations, it’s the silver lining for Mother Earth with all that’s happening. Here’s to hoping we can be more conscious about the environment and our consumption once this all blows over!
Stars Raise Money for Struggling New Yorkers
Stars organized a virtual telethon hosted by comedy queen Tina Fey to help raise more than $115 million for New Yorkers struggling financially due to the COVID-19 crisis. Fey was joined by Bon Jovi, Mariah Carey, Governor Andrew Cuomo, Robert de Niro, Jimmy Fallon, Jake Gyllenhaal, Jennifer Lopez, Idina Menzel, Ben Platt, Chris Rock, Barbra Streisand, among others. 100% of the donations raised are being deployed directly to the front line organizations providing food, shelter, cash assistance, health and mental health, legal services, education, and other supportive resources.
Easing Back Into the New Normal
While it will definitely be a while until things completely settle down, a lot of countries have relaxed their lockdown measures including Italy, France, Spain, Germany, parts of the US, and Australia. While we all definitely have to keep our physical distancing from each other, things are starting to look up! Best news: beaches are starting to open, so you can rock your new kinis from your room to the shores! Here’s to hoping longer travels will be permitted, but the local beaches will have to do for now. Let’s never take for granted staying out, the warm sand and the waves splashing on the shore!
